Travelling
by car
For those few who travel to Spain by car, follow the usual rout
through France to the Spanish border. You enter Spain from Perpignan
(Fr) on the E15. Stay on the E15 and follow it further in the
direction Girona (also indicated as A7), Barcelona (A7), Tarragona
(A7) Valencia (A7), Alicante (A7). The AP7 is the new toll road, which is quicker. Try and use that one if you can. From Alicante follow the A7 (A30)
in the direction Murcia. Drive through Mucia on the A30, following the sign for Cartagena. Stay on the road another 10km through the hills. Then look for the exit highway C3319
on the right, just after the Banos y Mendigo exit. This is after the mountain part of the road, which lasts 5 mins. It's easy - one road. Take this
exit marked “San Javier / aeropuerto”, the C3319. Follow it round to right and then left back over the expressway and just after the slip road to go back on to the expressway you will see the first exit names 'Mosa Trajectum/Ventas'. Take this exit from the C3319 and follow the service road to the roundabout. Go round the roundabout and exit right, under the C3319 to Mosa. Just look for the “Mosa Trajectum” entrance ahead. You enter the resort under a replica of the Sint Servaasbridge
(Dutch city Maastricht). The
distance from Calais amounts to approx. 1950 km. The cost from
UK is around €100 in tolls, and it takes 24 hours in the car. A stop at the south of France is suggested. We usually stay in Ceret, just at the last toll gate before Spain. Leaving from London, you will have been driving, including the UK part and the Eurotunnel, for about 16 hours by the time you reach the south of France. Staying the night in the south of France leaves 7 hours the next morning down to the villa.
Travelling
by plane
Please find below the routes from the local airports.
From Alicante airport to Mosa Trajectum (approx. 90 kilometres)
The route from the airport of Alicante to the resort is very easy.
Just take the highway A7 and follow this in the direction of Murcia
as described under above mentioned itinerary. Remember to come
off the A7 at the C3319 San Javier Airport turn off. This is about
85km from Alicante airport.
From Murcia
airport to Mosa Trajectum (approx. 25 kilometres)
Go to the highway A37 and follows this in the direction of San
Javier. After just 2 km take the first exit for Murcia (highway
C-3319) and follow this highway for approximately 20 km. The Mosa
Trajectum exit is located on the right. You can see the long 'medievel
effect' wall of the Mosa resort as you approach.
Once entering the resort, passing through the security gate, turn right at the small roundabout and proceed towards the club house. 4 large villas will be seen on your left, with no other properties either side, just as you come up to the 18th green (which is on your right). Wentworth Villa is the 2nd villa on the left, justy to the left of the driveway.
Climate
The region between Alicante and Murcia (the southern part of the
Costa Blanca and the northern part of the Costa Calida) is part
of the "Mediterranean zone", a small paradise of mild
temperatures. The hilly hinterland protects this area against
the wind of the Meseta, through which the temperatures are the
entire year pleasant to name: in wintertime about 16 until 22
degrees Celcius and in summertime not too warm with a temperature
of about 30 degrees Celcius. Besides the sun shines more than
300 days per year (2700 and 3000 annual hours of sunshine) and
the humidity is very low. This results in a perfect combination
of sea, subtropical climate, many light and clean air. On top
of this the presence of salt lakes and stretches of pinewoods
add to the healthy surroundings. All these elements together have
an amasingly favorable effect on your health. Complaints as consequence
of rheumatism, gout or lung trouble can decrease substantially
through the climatic influence of this region. In short, here
you will find the best and healthiest climate of Spain. Recently
the World Healths Organization (WHO) declared the province of
Murcia having the cleanest air in Europe. Excellent.
Beaches
Along the coast of the Costa Calida are many beautiful
beaches, both naturally as artificial constructed. They are considerable
calmer than the beaches along the northern situated Costa Blanca
and the southern situated Costa del Sol. The water along this
coastline is very clear what attracts many sportsdivers.
Please find
below a selection of beaches from Águilas till Cabo Roig.
Águilas
This is a small fishermen village where during sunny days lots
of local people come to the beaches to enjoy the water. The beaches
are not very long because of the many small bays. The water in
these bays is very clean and clear. The sandy beaches are also
very clean and they offer a wide range of watersports like diving
and snorkeling. At the beach there are many kiosks located where
cold drinks and delicacies can be bought.
Mazarrón
This place has various small rocky bays with small sand beaches.
The beaches as well as the water are very clean. The beaches are
very suitable to practice many kinds of watersport such as sailing
and windsurfing. The rock bottom in combination with its fauna
make this place very popular for divers. There are several kiosks
for cold drinks and snacks and for the rent of parasols and sunbeds.
Furthermore a baywatch is present.
Cartagena
This is a city with an important port. Because of this important
harbor character there is a lot of industry that makes this piece
of coast less attractive for beach visit.
Calblanque
This is a nature park that is protected by Unesco that also has
four beautiful sandy beaches. Because of the protected character
there are no facilities (watersport and kiosks) available. Extremely
suitable for beach walks or bird-watchers.
Mar
Menor
This is a large inland sea of about 170 square kilometres. The
coastline is more than 70 km long and accommodates many nice villages
as San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcazares, Islas Menores and Playa
Honda. A
warm wind in combination with the little depth of the water results
in a pleasant temperature of the water (about 4 degrees higher
than the water of the Mediterranean). It is already in the preseason
pleasant of temperature. These circumstances make the Mar Menor
very popular to practice a wide range of watersports. On all beaches
along the Mar Menor all facilities regarding watersports are present:
rental of equipment and classes.
The Mar Menor
has many beautiful beaches with water of very little depth which
are not yet crowded by the mass tourism. Along the entire coastline
there are rental possibilities for parasols and sunbeds, kiosks
for refreshments and fastfood and at walking distance restaurants
of different classes.
La
Manga
The Mar Menor is divided from the Mediterranean by a spit of land
of 22 kilometres long, called La Manga del Mar Menor. The sandy
beaches along this spit are between 100 and 800 meters wide and
have clear waters. These circumstances make La Manga a paradise
between two seas. At these beaches are many nautical clubs located
where all possible watersport can be practised. The beaches are
very busy with several kiosks and beachstands.
San
Pedro del Pinatar
This village has a long and popular beach which is, because of
its size, still very tranquil. There are no facilities like kiosks
and rental of watersport equipment, only a lifeguard is present.
Cabo
Roig
This is a very small and beautiful beach which is very popular
among tourists and local population. Beachstands and rental facilities
(parasols and sunbeds) are present.
